Personality: A lot of Margaery's personality is based on subterfuge and deception. While she is not a malicious person by nature, she is a shrewd one and does whatever is needed to survive. The books make clear that she is her grandmother's protege and is an adept courtier in her own right. She easily moves through the different factions during the War of the Five Kings without much scandal being attached to her. She was Renly's Queen for a brief time before his death and then went on to be betrothed to Joffrey Lannister, Renly's enemy, without backlash. She is able to maintain the appearance of innocence and kindness, as well as an unblemished reputation, despite three marriages under her belt.

We particularly see her ability with playing the courtly game in A Storm of Swords, when Margaery and her family make an effort to befriend Sansa, not only to find out information about Joffrey, but to win Sansa's cooperation with their plans. They intend to marry her to Margaery's brother, which Margaery makes an effort to talk up in her company. This plan is ruined by Littlefinger, and after it becomes clear that the valuable chess piece that is Sansa Stark is out of their control, the Tyrells (especially Margaery) stop associating with her. Where she would go on walks with Margaery, spend time with her and converse, that abruptly ends when she's married to the Lannisters.

Margaery also understands the power of perception and the force of personality. She makes a point of always talking to the smallfolk of King's Landing, buying from local seamstresses, bakers and goldsmith's and constantly gives out alms. Not only does she believe that this is what a queen must do, she is also aware that it will build her popularity among the people, especially compared to Cersei. While it's not explicit that she is setting herself apart from Cersei (and Cersei is an unreliable narrator), it fits in with Margaery's prior behavior. She talks a great deal about what a king must do with Tommen, urging him to go to council meetings and listen to audiences himself, despite his young age. She also urges him to learn jousting and the way to be a knight, preparing him for the moment he can take power. This also extends to her private life. Knowing how precious reputation is, Margaery keeps herself surrounded with girls her age, her cousins and other relations. They stay with her at night, they go with her on her errands or activities and are constantly by her side. This makes it exceedingly difficult to start rumors about Margaery's chastity and virtue. In fact, Cersei has to torture a man to the point of madness just to make the accusations stick.

There is genuine kindness in Margaery. While her charity serves a purpose, she isn't lax with it and she shows particular warmth to Tommen, her third husband. Because he is neglected and abused by his mother, Margaery plays that role for him. She gives him kittens, listens to his stories and interests and takes him out to do things that please him. They share a close relationship, one that is strong enough to threaten Cersei and make her paranoid. Through Margaery's efforts and encouragements, he's much more rebellious towards his mother and out of her control than any of her other children.

Margaery has a number of close familial relationships, but it's with Loras that she's the closest. There are a few moments in the books that parallel Margaery/Loras to Cersei/Jaime, highlighting the difference between a toxic sibling relationship and a more healthy one. Margaery relies on Loras time and again to protect her, she even thinks to name him her champion, should she go the route of trial by combat. When she's told that Loras is seriously injured in battle and likely to die, Margaery spends her time praying for his safety, genuinely bereft. The Tyrells are a close family unit, even leading to Margaery's father bringing an army to King's Landing the moment that she's arrested. As mentioned before, Margaery is her grandmother's protege as well as a beloved granddaughter. Their relationship is so close that Olenna Tyrell has Joffrey murdered during his wedding to Margaery so that he won't have the chance to torment and abuse her, leaving the road open for Tommen to be king and Margaery to marry him.

She's considered active for a girl in that society. It's mentioned that not three days pass that Margaery isn't on her horse and riding in the woods. She's an active falconer and enjoys sailing and racing. She often eats by the sea and goes hunting for seashells, rather than simply sitting around sewing (though she does that as well). She's fond of music and keeps a bard at her side, which Cersei exploits to her advantage by using him to fabricate adultery charges against Margaery. She's fond of the outdoors and nature, spending time in the woods and the seaside.

Most importantly, Margaery is shrewd and observant. There's a particular plot point in the books about Cersei's secret affair with her twin, Jaime and that her children are his. Ned Stark died for this secret, as did others, but it seems that Margaery is fully aware that Tommen is not Robert Baratheon's son. She makes a pointed comment when Cersei praises Tommen, saying that jousting is in his blood and he will ride the lists like his father. Margaery states: "But I never knew that King Robert was so accomplished at the joust. Pray tell us, Your Grace, what tourneys did he win? What great knights did he unseat? I know the king should like to hear about his father’s victories." A pointed comment and one that indicates that she's fully aware of what Cersei means.

Margaery is a complex character, and while she has no POVs of her own, she's intelligent, witty, generous and shrewd. Adept enough to make Cersei Lannister nervous and to be a force of her own, despite her soft and gentle demeanor. She is a rose with thorns.
Abilities & Skills: Margaery has normal skills for a noblewoman from Westeros. She's skilled with needlework, account management, horse riding and other hobbies. She's an avid hunter, especially falconry and can sail. Other than this, she's a normal human with just a bit more intelligence on her side.

Inventory/Companions: She only has the roughspun shift on her back and no animal companions.

Choice: Monster (Faun)
Reason: Margaery is already a nature based person, so this would fall into her personality. The appeal of music fits in with her interests as well. Added with that is the sudden appearance of hooves, which would play with her perception of appearance, along with being a sigil for her first husband (who she doesn't talk about). There's a lot of irony in it.
